RESIDENCY PROGRAM
Circolo Scandinavo offers residencies to creative artists in fields such as visual arts, music, literature, theater, and film. Artists from the Nordic countries, as well as Greenland, Faroe Islands and Åland may apply.
Residencies are often of 2 months duration, but with the possibility of shorter or longer stays.
The programme may include an artist talk, a master class or a literary event, all of which are open to the general public, and other projects designed to promote Nordic artists in Italy. The programme contributes to collaboration and networking with the Italian public and culture.
Selection procedure
Applications are forwarded to the relevant national artists' organisations, after which an inter-Nordic committee makes the final selection (members of the selection committee: professional artists on the board of governors and the director of Circolo Scandinavo). The basic criteria is artistic quality, and there is no quota-based selection.
Facilities
The centrally located 15th-century building has five studios available: four studios of 20 m2, 26 m2, 27 m2 and 32 m2 respectively, and a smaller of 11 m2. The studios have good natural light and are equipped for basic work processes. Shared facilities: kitchen, dining room, library, terrace and a hall (suitable for artist talks).
Musicians have priority regarding use of studio with piano (J. P. Löfberg, 7 octaves). A separate 8.5 m2 workroom for one visual artist is available.
